Part of the UK New Dawn & Penny On (http://pennyon.com)objective is to create in Manchester a Permaculture "urban farm" or city farm. This will be done in collaboratin with the charity Community Service Volunteers http://www.csv.org.uk/volunteering
The outcome is to educate project teams in the UK and take them to UK and non UK destinations to teach sustainability, green technologies, permaculture and linked subject matters.
Projects in the Sahara, Malawi, Pakistan and India identified.
We are currently sourcing the "Manchester donor" UK plot for this to happen with a number of leads looking quite strong.
As part of the education process Martin and I visited Towneley Halls "Offshoots Permaculture Project" and met with Phil Dewhurst to get some pointers and valuable advice.
Offshoots is well worth a visit online and a good destination to get back to nature: http://offshoots.org.uk/
Just over the Christmas period i was searching for a Discovery that would meet the convoy requirement.. Roughly a "Land Rover Discovery", "Diesel", " Good Working Order" "That Can Make It To The Sahara" -Found it..
After taking the trip up to "Easy Car Sales" on Teeside and speaking with Peter weve secured our Manchester vehicle. This will be collected Saturday 5th January and fund raising then begins to get the vehicle integrated with the rest of the convoy.
The vehicle will be "wrapped" in the colours of the rainbow and then ready for sponsors branding and raising the profile of the New Dawn project.
In order to maintain the ongoing costs of fuel and cash flowing the Manchester land rover costs will be supported by the Banners Broker revenue generation method of advertising as explained in the blog
Specific detail of the purchase and progress can found by searching for New Dawn on the BB a journey blog as we progress with this much needed solution to youth disengagement and third world food sustainability issues.
